How To Install & Configure Pidgin Internet Messenger

In this Ubuntu Video Tutorial we will be looking at installing and configuring Pidgin Internet Messenger. Pidgin was the original Instant Messenger in Ubuntu 9.04 and older. It offered a plethora of support for different services. In this tutorial we look at bringing it back to Ubuntu. Pidgin does a fantastic job over empathy, as it has been in a stable state for years. The only downside is that is may seem dated in appearance. For this tutorial we will be looking a configuring a Gtalk account. As IM clients go Pidgin doesn’t skimp on the extras, there are tons of plug-ins making it perfect for tweaking. You want Facebook support? Not a problem just install the plug-in from the application manager.
