How To Install Edubuntu Desktop

[blip.tv ?posts_id=4022518&dest=-1]

In this Ubuntu Video Tutorial we will be looking at Edubuntu. Edubuntu was originally a derivative of Ubuntu and distributed as an ISO. Today it is available as set of packages designed to be installed on top of Ubuntu. It adds basic educational applications to the Ubuntu Desktop making it appropriate for a school environment. The installation process is actually quite simple. You take a fresh install of Ubuntu and you install the package from the Ubuntu Software Center. This actually seems to streamline deployment. Many of the applications are designed to cater to kids of all ages, but there seems to be applications designed purely for those of preschool and first grade, such as tux typing, and tux math. There are also applications designed purely for educational development such as production software for computer courses. Thanks to Ben Crisford for the suggestion.
